The Adults-Only Cruise Nobody Told You About

When couples come to me saying they're interested in a cruise but worried it'll feel like a floating resort full of kids and buffet lines, I have a short answer: Virgin Voyages.

Here's the thing. For a long time, adults-only cruising meant paying a significant premium for a luxury expedition ship or accepting a smaller, older vessel with limited options. Virgin Voyages changed that when they launched in 2020 with a completely different model, and the result is the most genuinely different cruise product I recommend.

Every Ship, Every Sailing, 18 and Over

There are no exceptions on Virgin Voyages. Every sailing on every ship in the fleet is 18 and over. This is not a special adults-only sailing or an upgraded ship category. It's the entire brand.

What that means in practice: the pool deck has the energy of a chic beach resort. The entertainment has an edge to it. The dining is designed for adults who care about what they eat. The nights run as late as you want them to.

None of this requires explanation when you're on board. The vibe communicates it.

The Dining Is the Thing People Talk About First

Twenty-plus restaurants, all full service, all included in your fare. No buffets, no specialty dining surcharges, no assigned seating in a main dining room.

Korean BBQ with tabletop grills and drinking games. A tasting menu that reads like a science experiment. A 1920s steakhouse. Modern Mexican. Fresh Italian pasta. Mediterranean tapas off the back of the ship.

This is the detail that gets people. Most cruise lines use dining as an upsell opportunity. Virgin Voyages made it the central experience and included it in the fare.

The Entertainment Has Its Own Identity

Scarlet Night happens once per sailing. The whole ship turns red. Pop-up performances, live music, and a poolside dance party that runs as long as you do. Pack something red.

Immersive theater, cabaret shows, drag performances, a Pajama Party that has become one of the most-talked-about nights of any sailing. It's bold, it's adults-only in tone, and it's nothing like the main stage entertainment you'd find on a family ship.

Where You Can Actually Go

The Caribbean is where most of the sailings are, with almost every Miami itinerary including a day at The Beach Club at Bimini, Virgin's private Bahamian retreat. Exclusive to sailors when a Virgin ship is in port, with resort pools, a long stretch of beach, six bars, and a golden hour departure that people remember for years.

Alaska launched for the first time in May 2026 with Brilliant Lady, their newest ship. Seventeen sailings departing from both Seattle and Vancouver, ranging from 7 to 12 nights. Adults-only in one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth is a combination I haven't been able to stop recommending to couples in Western Canada.

The Mediterranean rounds out the fleet, with itineraries covering Santorini, Mykonos, Dubrovnik, Barcelona, and Ibiza across two ships.

The Part About Booking Through an Advisor

Booking Virgin Voyages through a Virtuoso-affiliated travel advisor gives you access to Sailor Loot, Virgin's exclusive onboard credit, that you can't get booking directly.

Up to $200 depending on your sailing length, applied automatically to your onboard account. You can use it for anything: bar tabs, excursions, spa, or to cover your daily service charge. The difference in total cost is real.

If an adults-only cruise is something you've been thinking about, I'd love to help you figure out if Virgin Voyages is the right fit and which itinerary makes the most sense for your group. Fill out the Trip Starter Form and I'll follow up within 24 hours.
